Posten Norge and Bring have been reducing their emissions every year for the past eight years. In total the Group has reduced its CO2 emissions by 43 per cent since 2008, thus meeting the 2020 target of a 40 per cent reduction three years ahead of schedule. The Group's new goal is: Posten and Bring – renewable by 2025.
"Posten Norge and Bring have succeeded in leading the way in climate and environmental efforts in our industry – an achievement noticed by both our customers and our owner. We must continue this success in the years to come, and are therefore setting our sights on 2025," says CEO Tone Wille.
The new environmental goal requires that the Group continuously assess renewable solutions and phase out fossil energy, as well as test new technology as it becomes available. This is contingent on some key assumptions, such as:
• Availability of sustainable renewable fuel
• Development of vehicles using zero or low-emission solutions • Renewable solutions must be competitive with fossil solutions
"I am proud of our new environmental goal. It underscores our ambition to maintain our leading position in the industry's commitment to new environmentally efficient solutions," says Wille.
Posten Norge accounts for about one per cent of the total CO2 emissions in the transport sector in Norway.
Requirements for suppliers
The environmental goal applies to the Group's own vehicles and buildings, but Posten Norge and Bring are also setting requirements for their suppliers. The requirements will be tightened as possibilities for reducing emissions fall into place. The Group is already in the process of revising and upgrading environmental requirements for its suppliers.
